Clouded Sulphur (Colias philodice)
Common in the mountains and uncommon to rare elsewhere, Clouded Sulphur is similar to the more widespread Orange Sulphur, but with no orange color on the top side of the wings. The underside pattern is subtly different. Alleghany Co., NC 5/27/05. | |

Albino sulphurs are not too rare. Without the color, it's very difficult to separate Orange from Clouded Sulphur, so they're usually identified as Colias, sp. Haywood Co., NC 5/13/05. |
