Wild Indigo Duskywing (Erynnis baptisiae)

Wild Indigo Duskywing is found throughout NC, but is much more common in the mountains, where it uses the exotic invasive Crown-Vetch (Coronilla varia) as a host plant in addition to native species such as Vicia (vetch) and Baptisia.

Clay Co., NC 5/21/05.

Wild Indigo Duskywing (Erynnis baptisiae)

Wild Indigo Duskywing is similar to Juvenal's Duskywing and Horace's Duskywing, but smaller, lacking the inward white spot, and with an "oily" black base of the forewing when fresh.
