Juvenal's Duskywing (Erynnis juvenalis)
Abundant in early spring, these brown butterflies are nearly identical to Horace's Duskywing (Erynnis horatius), which is abundant in summer. The two large white spots on the underside of the hindwing help separate Juvenal's from Horace's Duskywing, which lacks these. Carroll Co., VA 4/10/2011. |
