Eastern Prickly Gooseberry, Dogberry (Ribes cynosbati)

Plantae>Magnoliophyta>Magnoliopsida>Rosales>Grossulariaceae>Ribes cynosbati L.

An uncommon deciduous prickly shrub. Like the two other gooseberries in North Carolina, Dogberry occurs only in the Mountains. The specific epithet, cynosbati, means "dog berry".
