Dotted Hawthorn (Crataegus punctata)

Uncommon in North Carolina, Dotted Hawthorn is found at higher elevations in the Mountains. The leaves have deeply impressed veins.

Dotted Hawthorn (Crataegus punctata)

The bright red fruits are large, 1-2 cm in diameter. The similar Crataegus collina, which is sometimes lumped with C. punctata, has smaller fruits and a wider range of habitats.
