Striped Hairstreak is one of the rarer Satyrium species in N.C. This moderately worn one was photographed on a dirt forest road in the wilds of Buncombe Co., NC 7/7/02. |

Two of the three I've ever seen were in suburban back yards, one in Winston-Salem, and one in Chapel Hill. This fresh individual, the earliest ever found in the state, was photographed in Chapel Hill, Orange Co., NC 5/12/02. |
