Laughing Gull (Leucophaeus atricilla)
The most common breeding gull in coastal North Carolina, Laughing Gulls retreat southward in winter, though a few remain at the coast. Laughing Gulls occasionally turn up inland, especially at large lakes such as Jordan Lake, usually after storms. Carteret Co., NC 7/17/08. | |
