Parthenium integrifolium (Common Wild Quinine)

Parthenium integrifolium (Common Wild Quinine)

This common wildflower is found throughout North Carolina, but is most common in the Piedmont, where it is a typical plant of old fields, powerline clearings, and open woodlands. It flowers from late May through August, sometimes into September. Compare with the rare Glade Wild Quinine (Parthenium auriculatum), which is found in the same habitats but over basic bedrock.

Despite the name integrifolium, the leaves are usually toothed, not entire.
