Yellow Balduina - Balduina uniflora Nuttall

Arogos Skipper (Atrytone arogos)

This southeastern coastal plain endemic is fairly common in wet pine savannas and flatwoods. All the photos I've taken of it so far have been incidental to taking photos of the tiny Arogos Skipper, one of the rarest butterflies in North Carolina. Balduina is the most common nectar source in its habitat when the skipper is flying.
