Found throughout North Carolina, but not common, Whorled Milkweed is easy to identify since it's our only milkweed species with whorled, linear leaves.

Whorled Milkweed is generally associated with rock outcrops, especially mafic rocks, such as here at Willie Duke's Bluffs near the Eno River.
