Ground Skink (Scincella lateralis)
| The smallest lizard in North Carolina, the Ground Skink could be mistaken for a salamander. Fairly common in the Piedmont and Coastal Plain, but more often heard slithering through the leaf litter than seen. Scotland Co., NC 3/22/08. |
