White Peacock (Anartia jatrophae)

White Peacock is a wide-ranging tropical species common in southern Florida and Texas and from Mexico and the West Indies to Argentina. Strays have been reported as far north as Nebraska and Massachusetts.

White Peacock is a very rare stray to southeastern North Carolina, with about 7 records. Ricky Davis discovered and photographed the fresh individual at left on October 21, 2006 at Lake Landing, near Lake Mattamuskeet, Hyde Co., NC.
