Georgia Satyr (Neonympha areolata)

Georgia Satyr (Neonympha areolata)

Normally an uncommon to rare large satyr of wet areas in the Coastal Plain, we found an amazing 75 on the 2003 Croatan count. Ususally seen flying low through grasses with a distinctive flopping flight, they very rarely stop to nectar at flowers (this one is on Marshallia).
