Dukes's Skipper (Euphyes dukesi)
| A rare, large, fairly dark wetland skipper, often found along with the similar Dion Skipper and lots of mosquitoes. This one is unusually bright. We had an incredible 50 on the 2004 Wilmington butterfly count - almost 5 times the previous high count for North Carolina. Brunswick Co., NC 8/28/04. |
