Chestnut-collared Longspur (Calcarius ornatus)

Chestnut-collared Longspur is an accidental in North Carolina, with only a few records. This drab female was found at Fort Fisher by Bruce Young on April 23, 2011 and positively identified from photos a couple of days later. It was last reported on May 2.
